Our History...
Smithboro Furniture Company was established in 1950 by the late Charles R. Bryant. After many years in the tobacco industry, Mr. Bryant had the foresight, after WW2, to get into the furniture business. He opened his first store in the community of Smithboro, South Carolina. Dedicated to providing his customers with good service and quality furniture at a fair price made Smithboro a huge success. Reputation and word of mouth expanded the business all over the Untied States including the Washington, DC area. In the 1960s, Mr. Bryant's youngest son, Randy Bryant, joined the business. Mr. Bryant added new stores including a large store in Fayetteville, NC to accommodate the military growth and expanded the Mullins, SC store to Highway 76. This proved to be a very advantageous move and allowed better access to the areas Smithboro services, mainly Myrtle beach and the Pee Dee. The tradition continues as Randy's son, Jeffrey, joined the business in the 1990s. Maintaining the values established by Charles Bryant in the 1950s continues to be the goal of Smithboro as they look to the future. The commitment of friendly service to the customer, free delivery, and a fair price will never change at Smithboro and will carry the business through many generations to come |
